ABOUT

Emily Brown, MBA

Founder and Principal

Emily has nine years of experience specializing in grant writing and program development. She holds an MBA in Social Impact from Eastern University, where her capstone project explored launching a business incubator for refugees in Lancaster, PA, backed by extensive field research. She also earned a Bachelor's in International Development and Political Science.

Most recently, Emily joined Flying Whale Strategies as an apprentice. Building on her strong experience as a grant writer, she was promoted to Grants Manager within her first year. In this role, she built a track record of surpassing proposal goals across clients’ portfolios.

Previously, she supported 12 fundraisers at HOPE International, helping to raise $22 million per year. With a robust background in supporting vulnerable communities, Emily has led initiatives at Church World Service, including the "Good Job, Happy Family" program and the first local chapter of Girls Who Code. At World Relief, she piloted a program to support refugees with high barriers to employment. She deployed with the International Rescue Committee to support Operations Allies Welcome for Afghan evacuees.

Today, Emily runs Loom Partners where she pairs her practitioner lens and  fundraising expertise to help nonprofits design sustainable, high-performing grant systems.
